Facilities
A Mapex Orion drum kit with Zildjian 'K' cymbals is the main kit. We also have a practice kit, LP congas, Pearl congas and Timbale, and a Roland electronic 'octapad'. There are also numerous samba drums and equipment including Bauer Surdo drums. A complete set of drum microphones is useful to record the performances of the students (see recording).

Play Along CD's
There are adequate facilities for playing drums with play along CD's. These are recordings in various styles with the drummer taken out. The facilities include a Yamaha mixing desk linked to an Alesis studio amplifier and Beyer headphones.

We also have a couple of keyboard instruments for the teacher to accompany the student.

Recording
It is possible to record the student playing along to a backing track to evaluate the performance, and to give people a recording of themselves playing. It is good to make recordings at regular intervals to chart progress. Solo drum pieces can also be recorded in a similar fashion. The recording is carried out on a computer using the latest studio software. The student can take away a CD of their performance after the sesssion.
