The Wirral Drum Studio web pages are a resource for learning drum kit and percussion. On this site there is standard learning material as well as some exercises and pieces for drum kit and conga's. The material is taken from exercises and lessons given in the studio and in some cases were written for individual students to help them over a specific problem, or to help them understand a specific idea or concept.

Drum Lessons

Individual drum lessons can be booked by email or phone. Lessons can be just for fun, educational, or for the more dedicated student can lead to examinations in the 'Rock School' syllabus or the 'Guildhall School of Music' syllabus. We are happy to teach adults or younger pupils. The 'studio' is based in a private house in Liscard, Wallasey and is fully equipped. Students only need to bring themselves, and if preferred, a favourite pair of sticks.

Samba Drumming

Samba Drumming in a group situation is fun as well as educational, and we hold regular courses for adult beginners as well as visiting schools and businesses. Instruments used in a samba 'bateria' are Surdo's, Caixa's, Timba's, Agogo Bells, Chocolho's, Ganza's, etc. In addition we can also deliver conga drumming workshops to organisations or give individual conga drumming lessons at the studio.
Developing Skills on Drum Kit

This book is ideal for beginners to playing drums. There are sections on basic musical/rhythmic notation, reading exercises on snare drum, basic rock grooves, drum rudiments, rock pieces, use of hi-hats, accented notes, etc.
Pieces for Drum Kit, Intermediate.

This book is filled with drum kit pieces for the intermediate drummer. The pieces help build a solid technical foundation to enable the intermediate drummer to consolidate skills and then take their playing on to the next level.
